So far DC United season has been a up and down. They have had games where they have proven that they could compete with the best of the best and games where they have proven they are not at a elite level yet. Their record so far is 12-11-9.

Their best performer of the season so far is Wayne Rooney. “Wayne Rooney is on fire and it doesn’t seem like he’ll stop,” said Brayan Ramos, junior at E.L. Haynes. “He is in discussion to win the MVP for this year and I hope he does.”

His stats so far are 20 goals and 14 assists in 30 games. He has been by far the best player on the team. The closest player to performing at the level he is is Luciano Acosta. He has 12 goals and 8 assists.

Most of their attacking players have not been performing at the level they are capable of. Last year Paul Arriola scored 20 goals and 14 assists. This year he only has  6 goals and 2 assists.

From the defense’s perspective they have been performing at an average level. They have been playing way better than last year but there’s still room for improvement. Chris Durkin is having a really good season. This year he has aloud 6 goals in 20 games, and that is really good. Their goalkeeper Bill Hamid has been one of the best goalkeepers in the MLS. He has aloud 12 goals in 30 games. He is in the discussion to make the all star team and be a contestant for the golden gloves award.

If DC United want to make the playoffs they have to play at a better pace. Most importantly they need to improve their offense. During the all star break they need to sign some new players, especially on the wings. They need fast players with lost of energy.

A lot of the players get really tired and unable to perform at a high level for the full 90 minutes.  They need to sell some of the players that are not performing. Some players they have been looking at are forwards and center attacking mid. That is their biggest weakness. A name that pops up is Giovani Dos Santos. He is a player for Toronto FC, and he is rumored to be in talks to bring him to DC United. Nothing has been confirmed yet but he has been seen in DC. Many DC United fans will be pleased if this signing goes through.
