President Donald Trump has decided to shut down the government on December 22, 2018, because he wants to complete his promise on building the wall in order to keep all Americans safe. However by doing so, this is the longest shutdown by the government, this is affecting many families that aren’t getting paid because the government shut down. Also, on how he wants money to build the wall for immigrants can’t come to the United States of America.

“America proudly welcomes millions of lawful immigrants who enrich our society and contribute to our nation. But all Americans are hurt by uncontrolled, illegal migration. It strains public resources and drives down jobs and wages. Among those hardest hit are African Americans and Hispanic Americans.” Said, President Trump.

Apparently, the shutdown is now the longest in history going on day 25 with 800,000 federal workers affected. Friday was the first full pay period workers missed due to the shutdown, but some are also waiting on overtime pay earned on Dec. 22 since the government shutdown began at midnight that day.

“I think that it’s a real waste of money to shut down the government and it’s negatively affecting many people who aren’t getting paid. It’s making the government being less defective in helping people. Also, I think there is no crisis going on right now at the border.” Said Nate Cole, a history teacher at El Haynes
“So, Donald trump invented or made up up a crisis just to get his campaign promise pass, and all of this is based upon things that aren’t true.”

)The Democrats don’t want to put money into the building of the wall because it will be a waste of money and unaffected. The way some people feel about this is that building a wall won’t make a difference because immigrants already get over even though they’re already a wall so what would building more do.

“A lot of what I have read has to do on how Donald Trump is acting like a 3-year-old or a 4-year-old who’s throwing a temper tantrum, it’s like him taking his toys and going home, and that’s what he’s doing like he doesn’t have any skills to negotiate what he wants, so he’s just gonna threaten, and throw a tantrum. Also, it hurts real people’s lives, a lot of people in this area depend on their jobs.” Said Topher Kandik, a Literature teacher at El Haynes.

Trump’s action is causing people having many struggles in their life, causing them to lose their jobs and not being able to provide for themselves anymore.

“There was a story on how he’s ordering workers back but they won’t get paid. How can you do that? How can you do that to someone who has a family, who has a livelihood that has to pay for their shelter, and things they need. That’s not real leadership.”

Trump believes that without a wall for our country, it can never have a border or national security. He thinks crime rates ( drugs ) would be all over the United States. He blames the Dems for not agreeing and also accuses of them playing political games just because they didn’t agree to the promise he made.
