Do you ever just want violence & discrimination to stop ? Wonder when it will stop ? When will we accept everyone’s differences ?

On Tuesday, Jussie Smollett was attacked in Chicago by 2 unknown men. They yelled racial and homophobic slurs, hit him in the face, poured an unknown chemical on him and wrapped a rope around his neck before leaving the scene. Smollett went to a hospital on his own & was said to be in good condition.

“I honestly think that it’s sad that this will happen to anyone, I don’t wish this upon anybody and this could be so traumatizing for someone that would experience this just for being different”, said Destiny Myers, a junior at Haynes.

Police spoke to Smollett’s family & said, “Our beloved son and brother, Jussie, was the victim of a violent and unprovoked attack. We want to be clear, this was a racial and homophobic hate crime.” Police are saying that this could be a “possible” hate crime. Smollett’s story never changed.

Former sophomore, Mandy Diaz said “ I honestly can’t believe this happened. I have friends that are apart of the LGBTQ community & it’ll break me if this had ever happened to any one of them. We’re all the same people, there’s nothing different from us. We all love the same. We have fingers, we have hair just like anybody in this universe. What’s the difference? It’s really sad how we’ve fought for our rights for years now & nothing has really changed.”

A lot of artists sent him prayers, like Taraji P. Henson, Kehlani & etc. Saying he’s very loved & that he’ll pull through.

Donald trump spoke upon Smollett’s attack & said it was “horrible”. Smollett mentioned that the attackers were yelling out “MAGA country” during the assault. But the detectives did not mention those assaults in the report.
